Martyn Sloman

Martyn Sloman is an internationally renowned expert on learning and training in organisations. Martyn is currently a Visiting Professor at Kingston Business School, Kingston University and a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Management and Organizational Psychology Birkbeck College, University of London. See also Martyn's website www.martynsloman.co.uk

Martyn has written a number of books on the subject, e.g. "The changing role of the trainer" in 2007. Very recently he published his new e-book "L&D2020: a guide for the next decade". In the ebook Martyn argues that modern learning and development is about intervening to enhance the workplace skills that deliver higher value products or services. This requires a move away from traditional trainer-centred and learner-centred approaches and demands a new mind-set and skill-set from the L&D professional. The implications of the new approach will be considered and participants will be encouraged to develop a practical agenda for their organisation.
